Combi, Regular or System boiler - what's the difference?
A combination boiler heats water directly from the mains as and when required. Combi boilers do not require a hot water cylinder and/or storage tank and are suited to smaller homes with limited storage space.
A regular boiler heats water from the mains and stores it in a hot water cylinder. Regular boilers, sometimes known as conventional or open vent boilers, are best for larger homes with storage space as they also require a cold water storage tank.
A system boiler heats water from the mains and stores it in a hot water cylinder. System boilers are best suited to larger homes with limited storage space as they do not require a cold water storage tank.

How do I know which boiler and heating output I need?
Our engineers can advise on which boiler is best for your heating and hot water requirements during a home appointment.
What does 'A rated' mean?
Heating and hot water products are required to have an ErP rating, which is short for "Energy related Products", ranging from A++ to G to demonstrate their efficiency. An 'A rated' boiler is highly efficient.
What is the Gas Safe Register?
The Gas Safe Register is the official gas registration body for the UK. Businesses and individuals must be on the Gas Safe Register to legally work on gas appliances. Always check for the Gas Safe ID card before letting an engineer into your home.
What does Which? 'Best Buy' mean?
Which? is the UK's largest independent consumer organisation that provides unbiased advice to consumers. Which? 'Best Buy's are recommendations based on research and testing, plus consumer feedback.
What payment options do you offer?
We have 4 payment options, including cash purchase, interest-free credit, easy payment plans and buy now pay later.
Do you offer a 24/7 emergency call out?
Yes, we always have an engineer available 24/7 for emergency call outs outside of normal operating hours.
Do you charge per hour?
We charge a minimum of one hour for all jobs, followed by 30 minute increments.
Do your prices include VAT?
Our pricing is inclusive of VAT at the 20% rate but do not include materials.
Do you provide quotes upfront?
We offer fixed price quotes which are offered upfront, any additional parts or labour will always be quoted in advance and only once you've accepted our quote will we carry out the work.
Is finance available for your boilers?
We're an authorised and regulated credit broker, offering Worcester Bosch boilers on finance via Novuna Personal Finance.
What is a gas safety certificate?
A gas safety certificate demonstrates that your gas appliances have been fitted, serviced and/or checked to meet the latest safety standards. Landlords are legally required to conduct gas safety checks every year for the safety of their tenants.
Are you insured?
We hold public liability insurance (up to £2m) and employer's liability insurance (up to £10m).
What areas do you cover?
We're based in Southbourne and we cover Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. Whilst we're able to fulfil work in the wider Dorset area, we apply a surcharge to cover the additional time and travel costs.
What does Greenstar mean?
Greenstar is the range gas fired boilers from Worcester Bosch. Every boiler in the Greenstar range is a Which? 'Best Buy'.
What is a smart thermostat?
A smart thermostat enables you to control your heating like a regular thermostat, but from your phone or tablet.
What is a TRV?
A thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) help you control the temperature of each room in your home, reducing unnecessary demand on your boiler.
What is a flue?
A flue is where exhaust gases exist your boiler, typically found directly behind your boiler through an external wall.
What is a condensate pipe?
A condensate pipe is an overflow pipe that enables your boiler to dispose of condensation to an outside drain.
What is flow rate?
Testing your flow rate determines how many litres, and how fast your boiler can heat hot water.
What is chemical flushing?
Flushing chemicals through your central heating system using mains water pressure can reduce corrosion, sludge and oxide build up within your central heating system. Chemical flushing is included as standard with our new boiler installs.
What is powerflushing?
Powerflushing chemicals through your central heating system using an external high pressure pump is more effective than a standard chemical clean and can remove more corrosion, sludge and oxide build up than standard flushing would.
