Combi, Regular or System boiler - what's the difference?
A combination boiler heats water directly from the mains as and when required. Combi boilers do not require a hot water cylinder and/or storage tank and are suited to smaller homes with limited storage space.
A regular boiler heats water from the mains and stores it in a hot water cylinder. Regular boilers, sometimes known as conventional or open vent boilers, are best for larger homes with storage space as they also require a cold water storage tank.
A system boiler heats water from the mains and stores it in a hot water cylinder. System boilers are best suited to larger homes with limited storage space as they do not require a cold water storage tank.
